Flávio de Araújo is a contemporary poet who comes from a family of caiçara fishermen in Paraty. His debut poetry collection, Zangareio, was published in conjunction with the 2008 OFF FLIP literary festival, an offshoot of FLIP (Paraty International Literary Festival). His second poetry collection, Vermelho Guelra, was published in conjunction with the 2018 FLIP. His novel O insustentável equilíbrio das perdas is forthcoming.

Araújo has participated in, helped organize OFF FLIP, and has served as an editor for Jornal de Poesia literary journal. He has also read at the International Literary Festival of Porto de Galinhas-Pernambuco, the International Literature Festival in Havana, Cuba, and the Salvador Díaz Mirón Iberoamericano Festival of Poetry in Las Choapas, Mexico.

English translations of his poems have appeared in such journals as Guernica, Asymptote, and Washington Square Review, and audio recordings of his poems in Portuguese are featured on From the Fishouse.

Rachel Morgenstern-Clarren is an American poet and translator based out of Montreal. Her honors include a Fulbright Fellowship to Brazil, a Hopwood Award, an Academy of American Poets Prize, the Page Davidson Clayton Award for Emerging Poets, and residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Banff International Literary Translation Centre. Her recent work appears or is forthcoming in Ploughshares, Words Without Borders, Bellevue Literary Review, and Ninth Letter.  She holds an MFA in poetry and literary translation from Columbia University and is the Consulate editor for Joyland.
